March is a special month for our family. It is the month both of our sweet daughters were baptized. It is a month where we honor God and teach them what it means to be a Christ-follower. We intentionally chose to honor both of their baptisms in the month of March and each year I plan to have a theme for us to focus our celebration. This year we chose the Creation Story as our focus and theme. If you would like to read about our Creation activities and projects you can visit that page HERE. Below you will find some details from our Creation themed baptism party for our youngest daughter Celia; including the favor, we gave those who attended. You can download this printable for FREE at the end of this post.
Creation Story & Food
The easiest way to decorate for this theme was to make the food our focus. Ava, our eldest daughter, helped me choose foods that would represent each part of the creation story found in Genesis. Our church graciously offered a space for us to host a gathering. We wanted our meal to be simple yet meaningful. It was important for us to continue the celebration together in an intimate setting.
Day 1: God Created the Light & Dark
Light & Dark:
Chocolate and Vanilla Pudding
Chocolate & Shortbread Cookies (could use Oreos)
Day 2: God Made the Skies & the Seas
Blue Gatorade & Water Bottles
Day 3: God Made the Plants and the Trees
Fruits & Vegetables with other plant-based items like guacamole & hummus
Day 4: God Made the Sun, Moon, & Stars.
Ava and I bought provolone cheese to resemble “moon cheese” and cut other flavors of cheese with cookie cutters to resemble stars.
Day 5: God Made the Fish and Birds. Day 6: God Made the Animals & Man.
Day 5: Goldfish & Penguin Crackers
Day 6: Animal Crackers & Sour Patch Kids
Day 7: God Rested
It was difficult to find something to represent Day 7. I ended up finding these chocolate crosses at the Dollar Tree and thought it was a perfect addition to our picnic-style lunch as a small dessert and as a reminder to rejoice in the Lord always.
After Lunch….
We visited a local park to continue the celebration. It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors and let the kids run and play together.
Favor
When thinking about a favor to give our guests, I knew I wanted it to be an encouragement; something to encourage the development of their own faith. So, I created the scripture card below and then added a small vial with a small mustard seed inside. This gift was meaningful and fairly priced as well. I highly recommend you add this as a favor for your own party. {You can download this scripture card for FREE below}
TIP: When you purchase the tiny bottles, I highly recommend you order ones with a flat bottom like the one I have listed below. That way your guests can set it on a table or dresser for decoration without it falling over.
